CBD is an abbreviation for cannabidiol which is a natural compound ingredient found in the cannabis plant. More specifically, CBD is a phytocannabinoid, meaning it comes from a plant and is sometimes used for a number of health concerns because of its potential to reduce pain, relieve anxiety, decrease cancer related symptoms, increase energy, restful sleep, enhance cognitive function, support weight loss and much much more.

No, to the surprise of many CBD and marijuana are not the same thing. In fact, CBD does not cause a "high" but yields several medical benefits. CBD is often confused as having the same effects as THC which is found in "weed" and is responsible for the high psychotrophic feeling associated with smoking marijuana, because they come from the same cannabis plant. Yet, CBD comes from hemp which contains less than 0.3% THC.

While hemp derived CBD is legal on a federal level its legal status on a state level depends on the particular state you are in while using and/or purchasing it. In some states marijuana is legal for both recreational use and medical use. In other states, it’s legal only for medical use. And in some areas, it’s not legal at all.
